Dino Does Vienna

Hey Mikey!

So it’s been a while since I posted. You might think this is because I have been adventuring so much, but you wouldn’t necessarily be correct there. SOMEONE keeps forgetting to bring me places. I was promised a trip to Dublin to see the Backstreet Boys with Shelly and her friends but the beasts had fun without me! In fairness to Shelly, she woke up ten minutes before her bus was  leaving from across town and she had to get to the train station in a panic so that she could get a train and then a different bus in the hopes that she would make it to her flight (which she did, and I hear the surprise was totally worth it. Amy freaked right out. Would have been nice to see that, SHELLY.)
Anyways, to make up for forgetting me so many times, she has been bringing me to a few places lately. We went on a tour of Vienna, she brought me cycling in the countryside, and I got to meet Flat Stanley.

First off, most recently, Flat Stanley. That was just a couple of days ago.
Flat Stanley told me that his Dad bought him and his brother a big bulletin board for their bedroom for all of their pictures and paintings. Stan’s Dad isn’t as good at DIY as he’d like to think he is though, and the big board fell down in the middle of the night and squashed Stanley! Stanley travelled all the way from Alabama to Vienna in the post to Shelly’s friend Lauren, who is bringing him around like Shelly does for me.

We got Ice Cream in Tichy before we went to have a look around the city. This was after I had done my tour with Shelly so I was able to show him around and tell him about the different things. It’s nice to be the tour guide every so often!

Then, our Vienna adventure!
The day that Shelly brought me around town was lovely and sunny. We set off on bikes and went straight for the city centre.

Our first stop was Karlskirche

Mozart Goethe

I got to see loads of statues here. The guy on the left is Mozart, he’s kind of a big deal. Goethe is on the right.

Parliament rathaaus

Then we passed by the Parliament and the Rathaus. Rathaus is not full of rats though, it’s only called that. It’s actually just the town hall.

Healthy Tasty Lunch!

votiv

We stopped for lunch beside the Votiv church. I had some tasty tulips and Shelly shared her coffee and chocolate banana bread (which I helped to make!)

After another while, we got to Schwarzenbergplatz.
There is a huge fountain and some more statues there. I had another snack of dandelions and then climbed a tree, as ya do.

We went home shortly after that, which leads me to my last couple of pictures..

Our adventure to Wachau! We got on a train in Vienna that was to bring us to a town called Melk.

Casual Dinosaur waits casually for a train

We got to Melk, oriented ourselves, and set off towards Krems. A town that is roughly 40km from Melk. It started raining at the start of the journey so I spent a lot of time hiding in pockets. This dino doesn’t do rain.

When the rain stopped, I ventured out of my warm hiding place to meet one of the locals.

This was us, introducing ourselves.

I was kindof giddy, and asked for a piggy back (snaily back?) I didn't wait for a yes....

...Which annoyed my new friend who curled up just enough to throw me off. I started to feel like we had overstayed any sort of a welcome so I casually continued on my journey.

halfway

This journey didn’t have as many stops as our trip around the city. This is almost at the halfway point

Ice Krem

and this was at the end… We stopped for ice cream in Krems before getting back on the train and returning to Vienna.

So that’s it for now! I hope you’re having a fun easter so far. Here in Vienna we dyed some eggs and have eaten some chocolate.

Your buddy,

Dinosaul
